The Gothic horror novel written by Irish author Bram Stoker, tells the story of Count Dracula’s attempt to move from Transylvania to England so that he may find new blood and spread the undead curse. It is a story of good versus evil, depicting a battle between Dracula and a small group of vampire hunters led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing.
Since it was first published in 1897 the novel has never been out of print and has sold millions of copies. The novel has inspired thousands of Vampire themed books, films, cartoons and TV shows.
This walking tour focuses on Sligo’s connections to the gothic author Bram Stoker and the Cholera Epidemic, that devastated the town in 1832.
